This book seems a large important and interesting essay in the style of a textbook written by Prof. Toshinsky who has been involved in nuclear reactor development in Russia as a key person for many years. A light water reactor developed originally as a submarine reactor is currently pushing away the world commercial reactors. Prof. Toshinsky has been engaged in the development of lead-bismuth cooling reactor as a counter to the light water reactor. While sodium cooling is currently the mainstream in fast reactors, which are regarded as future commercial reactors, in Russia lead-bismuth (and a lead) cooling fast reactor is being developed and promoted as the second one, which has several excellent properties superior to sodium. Prof. Toshinsky has instructed to research and develop lead-bismuth cooled small fast reactors. That is, he has been a leader in the development of lead bismuth cooled reactors, which are positioned second in the field of submarine nuclear reactors and fast reactors, which are two important pillars of nuclear reactors. He has observed and studied not only the nuclear reactors on which he is engaged, but also the reactors going as the top runner and the whole nuclear power situations. Thanks to these things, Prof. Toshinsky's book will be extremely useful not only for those who are planning to learn from now but also for people who have already started working on nuclear reactors.
